Introducing AI Agents: treasury work that runs itself

by Gurjit Pannu

Today we're launching Pulse AI Agents for treasury: configurable workers that run a piece of treasury analysis on their own, on a schedule you set or with a single click, and deliver the result straight to your inbox or Slack. You set one up once; it does the morning prep before anyone opens the app.

Palm sits on top of all your treasury tech stack, connecting TMSs, ERPs, emails, Excel sheets, APIs, portals, warehouses and bank accounts, normalising them into one treasury model. With agents, you can now put that entire dataset to work, querying and acting across all of it at once.

Agents are fully self-serve. A guided interface walks you through creating one in a few simple steps, with no technical setup, so treasury teams can pick exactly which part of their workflow they want to hand over and automate it themselves.

Every Palm workspace comes with a library of ready-to-run agents, each built around a real treasury job. Here are a few examples of how our customers are running AI agents right now, on schedules and tasks that match their treasury operations:

  • Treasury Morning Brief: a daily liquidity brief that checks cash positions across every entity and currency, spots cash-pool and non-pooled overdraft risk over a four-week horizon, and recommends specific funding actions using your own account codes and bank relationships.
  • FX Sensitivity Analysis: give it a currency, a direction and a shock size, and it calculates the unrealised P&L hit on your cross-currency positions, names the most exposed entities, and suggests hedging or rebalancing moves.
  • Variance Explainer: a post-mortem of last week's forecast versus actuals, ranking the biggest contributors by entity, account and category, classifying each as timing or structural, and recommending forecast adjustments.
  • Idle Cash Scanner: finds accounts holding more than they need and recommends repatriation, short-term investment, or intercompany loan repayments.
  • Bank Concentration Check: works out how much of your operational cash sits with each banking partner, flags single-bank dependencies, and alerts when concentration crosses a threshold you set.
  • Pre-Month-End Checklist: builds a pre-close checklist covering reconciliation flags, outstanding intercompany balances, unusual activity, FX revaluation items and cash-pool netting.
  • CFO Cash Flash: a jargon-free, one-paragraph cash summary for a board pack or a senior stakeholder who needs a 30-second read: total cash by currency, any alerts, and a one-line sentiment.

The default agents are the starting point, not the ceiling. During onboarding and through ongoing support, our team works with you to build and tailor agents to your entities, workflows and policies; your thresholds, your account structure and your reporting cadences. So an agent reflects how your treasury actually runs rather than a generic template.

Because these run continuously rather than on request, they move treasury from periodic review to continuous assurance. The check that used to happen monthly, in a spreadsheet, now happens every morning against live data.

How they work

Each agent runs a transparent, step-by-step process you can follow from start to finish. When it fires, on a schedule you set or the moment you click run, it first works out what the task needs, then queries your treasury data directly to get it: cash positions, forecasts, transactions, account structures, bank relationships and documents already held in your workspace.

From there it reasons over what it pulled and narrates its working in plain business language as it goes, so you see how it reached a conclusion, not just the conclusion. A funding recommendation shows the positions and overdraft risks behind it; a variance finding shows the accounts and categories it ranked. If you want to go deeper, every figure traces back to the exact source record it came from.

Every run is fully auditable. Each execution is recorded with a complete trace of what the agent looked at, the steps it took, and what it produced, kept in a run history you can revisit at any time. Agents run inside Palm's governed environment, scoped to your data and permissions; an agent only sees what its user is allowed to see.
